SUMMARY:The Future of Frome Business Breakfast
DESCRIPTION:Frome Chamber of Commerce is hosting a business networking breakfast with guest speakers from Mayday Saxonvale\, exploring where local businesses sit within a growing town and changing economy. \nThe significant development planned and underway across the town raises important questions: \n\nHow do we protect and prioritise business growth\, employment space and long-term economic activity alongside housing and other uses?\nHow can local business owners have a stronger voice in shaping the economic future of their town\, and greater influence over how long-term value is created and retained locally?\nWhat does it take to keep businesses\, talent and investment rooted in Frome long-term?\n\nFrome’s business community has an important role to play in shaping what comes next. This event is an opportunity to hear directly from Mayday Saxonvale on how they are bringing the community benefit society model to Frome at scale\, understand the potential economic impacts ahead\, and explore where you can directly engage and help influence the future of the town. \nJoin us on the 19th March\, 8.30-10.30 at the Cheese and Grain\, to talk to other businesses about their vision of the future of Frome\, and ask Mayday Saxonvale your questions – all accompanied by an excellent Cheese and Grain breakfast!

SUMMARY:Access to Finance - Investment
DESCRIPTION:Investment. Why should you give up some of your business? Is a %age of a big pie better than 100% of your pie? And who is the right investor\, anyway. \nThe world of private equity\, venture capital and angel investors sometimes seems like the world of Silicon Valley. But the truth is that businesses can scale much faster with the right investors. Yes\, you need a pitch and a business plan with a forecast based on assumptions you can back up – and adjust to show that you know the impact if your predictions don’t materialise (we all know that the one thing we can be sure of is that a forecast will be wrong!). But the work to prepare this doesn’t have to be difficult\, and the reward if you get it right significant. \nInvest 2 hours of your time on the 19th May\, 9-11am\, to explore the world of investment with Milsted Langdon and Harbourside Corporate Finance. The return will be well worthwhile. \nTickets are fully funded (and include a breakfast roll).

SUMMARY:Access to Finance - Grants
DESCRIPTION:Are you a business owner? Like the idea of money you don’t have to pay back? \nThe grant landscape has changed dramatically since we left the European Union. But that doesn’t mean there are none to be had. \nJoin us at Little Walcot on June 9th\, 9-11am\, to explore what is available\, and how to apply. \nSponsored once again by Milsted Langdon and Harbourside Corporate Finance\, this event is fully funded (and includes a breakfast roll and coffee). \nGrants are the only form of funding that don’t need to be repaid – although there will be conditions (usually relating to GVA – Gross Value Add) to be met. \nWant to understand more? Book your place now. \nWe deliberately keep attendance low to ensure everybody gets a chance to speak.

SUMMARY:Frome Chamber Coffee Morning at The Blue House
DESCRIPTION:Frome Chamber are delighted to invite you to a coffee morning at The Blue House on June 11th\, 9.30-11.30. David Hoare\, Manager at The Blue House will give a short talk about the history\, and lead a tour around the building before coffee (or tea) and cakes in what was once the chapel and\, weather permitting\, in the glorious gardens that stretch back to the river. \nThere has been an alms house providing shelter for Frome’s homeless on the island surrounded by the river Frome and the flood run-off\, since the late 15th century. One of only two grade 1 listed buildings in the town (the other being Rook Lane Chapel)\, The Blue House as we see it today dates back to between 1720 and 1728\, but this replaced an earlier building erected between 1620 and 1650\, which itself replaced a building dating back to the late 15th century. The original site (likely to have been set further back from the road – records speak of gardens to the front) was founded by the then Lord of the Manor\, William Leversedge\, who was so moved by the plight of the homeless in Frome\, he decided to do something about it. \nThe Blue House receives no funding from Government\, surviving on pledges\, donations\, the rents charged (which are below market rates) and occasional grants. David has recently launched a new campaign to raise £500\,000 for urgent repairs needed to windows\, roof and external walls \nThis is an excellent opportunity to combine networking with a peek inside one of Frome’s oldest treasures.

SUMMARY:Frome Chamber Coffee Morning at Vallis Farm
DESCRIPTION:Frome Chamber are delighted to invite you to a coffee morning at Vallis Farm on September 15th\, 9.30-11.30. Vicky Hunter-Frigeiro\, Business Development Manager will introduce Vallis Farm and lead a tour around the grounds before kindly providing coffee (or tea) and pastries in the kitchen/lounge or\, weather permitting\, outside. \nAfter buying Vallis Farm in 2021\, Max Hatvany’s first priorities were to become energy and water independent – regenerating not only the land\, but the systems that sustain it. Then cultivating a garden that exists in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem: vibrant\, edible\, and alive with pollinators\, birdsong\, and biodiversity. Finally\, a community – Friends of Vallis Farm – and a space where knowledge is shared\, where people connect with nature and each other\, and where you can explore what it means to live well. Recently\, a natural swimming pool and sauna have been added. It truly is a place where you can feel close to the rhythm of the Earth. \nJoin us for networking and an opportunity to shop in Vallis Farm kitchen. The eggs are excellent!
