Discuss and Do looks at Instagram

Discuss and Do looks at Instagram

We had another great Discuss and Do event at Sam’s Kitchen in January, run by Frome Diary’s Dawn Denton. She looked at how Instagram can help build a community around your business. She covered everything from how to set up your business profile to using hashtags, the metrics to watch and ideas on when to post.

Dawn has also very kindly pulled together some notes for anyone who wasn’t able to make it on the day which you can find in our Events section under Discuss and Do here.

You’ll also see that presenters at some of our most popular past Discuss and Do sessions have written up useful notes for you to refer to on digital marketing, premises and communication.

On Tuesday evening, June 27th, three industry experts presented to an audience of local business owners and employees on the importance of branding, part of the monthly free Discuss & Do sessions organised by Frome Town Council, Frome Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise Mendip.

The event, held at Sam’s Kitchen, featured a talk given by Cathy Hackett (ex BP, PwC, TransferWise) whose focus has been on people, organisation and culture. She asked the audience to consider the importance of internal branding, and how true brand success starts from within.

Alan Morden comes from an external branding perspective, and has been creative director at large agencies all over the world, working on brands such as British Airways, Audi and Apple. Alan demonstrated to the audience that branding is not just a logo.

Hannah Morden then presented on the importance of having company values and purpose, giving an example of her current business, DNA Worldwide Group, and how having a purpose has meant that there is a long term internal and external brand.

The evening finished off with a healthy discussion among small groups, where the audience was asked what their brand meant to their customers and their employees.
